We are thrilled to bring you the latest in literary events that have caught our attention. These events encompass a range of free and ticketed registration and are not affiliated with AWP. All times are in ET.

Thursday, August 10

6:00 p.m.— Join a group of creative femmes for Women's Writes Writing Group! Participate in valuable writing exercises, get feedback on your writing, and meet a community of strong, talented ladies. This session is open to writers of all experiences. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.

Monday, August 14

7:00 p.m.— Girltellme.com presents Write, Now: Writing Session for Creatives. Authors, artists, creators, and networks are all encouraged to attend. Gain motivation while working alongside other creative individuals. Come for the duration of the session or come and go as you please! Registration is free, and this event will take place online.

Tuesday, August 15

12 Noon— The Athenaeum of Philadelphia presents Read With Us: Trust by Hernan Diaz. Come together and meet with other book lovers to discuss this thrilling, immersive novel full of mystery and questions. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.

Thursday, August 17

2:00 p.m.— Join for 90 minutes of shared reading and writing with the Open Book Neurodivergent Creative Writing Group. Emily Dodd will be leading this session and will present a selection of stories and poems to be discussed with the group. After each reading, the session leader will present a writing prompt to inspire and guide attendees’ writing. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.

Friday, August 18

3:00 p.m.— The Mechanics’ Institute presents The Writers' Lunch: Balancing Authorship and Publishing. Join for a discussion headed by authors Gini Grossenbacher and O'Cyrus, moderated by Sheryl J. Bize-Boutte. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.

Saturday, August 19

12 Noon— Feeling stuck? Need inspiration? Want to write more, but lack the motivation? Join the Zen Pen every third Saturday of the month for Contemplative Writing--Virtual Café, to meet with other writers, be held accountable, and share a space with other creatives. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.

Tuesday, August 22

1:30 p.m.— Around the Round Table presents Dark Poetry: Writing Macabre Poetry. As we inch closer to spooky season, fine-tune your macabre and Poe-esque styles! Registration is free, and this event will take place online.

Wednesday, August 23

8:00 p.m. Open Sky Stories presents another installation of a Community Writing Session. Join expressive writing facilitator Erica Richmond as she guides writers through a brief meditation session, a writing period, and wraps up the session with time to share. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.

Friday, August 25

2:00 p.m. Feeling “stuck” in your work? Join Fallow House for a Creative Writing Power Hour. Show up and share whatever creative ideas or works you currently have in progress! Registration is free, and this event will take place online.
