Learn ASL at your own pace with SignSchool, a free educational resource.

The World Federation of the Deaf is releasing one learning module per day in honor of International Week of Deaf People. Learn about sustainable economic opportunities for the deaf, intersectional leadership in deaf communities, the deaf leadership of tomorrow, and much more.

Learn about the history of deaf education in America by browsing the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center’s vast library of resources.  

The National Deaf Center has assembled a list of resources to further your knowledge of d/Deaf culture, studies, and accessibility aids.

Watch PBS’s “Deaf, Blind and Thriving,” a special program devoted to capturing the life stories of people in the d/Deaf community.

Wednesday, September 21

9:30–10:30 a.m. — The Contemporary Visual Arts Network presents Making Time for Equitable Change: Disability and Governance, a virtual discussion led by Tim Wheeler and Dr. Cecilia Wee. This conversation focuses on exploring the benefits and barriers to the involvement of D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent people as board members within the arts and cultural sectors. Attendees will learn what support is needed to actively uplift D/deaf people in arts and culture. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.

6:30–7:15 p.m. — Miramar Library presents American Sign Language (Online), the first installation of a free ten-week class devoted to teaching the basics of ASL. Participants are encouraged to attend each course as classes often look back to previous lessons. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.
