2:30 p.m.— Dahlia Books presents: Present Tense Literary Magazine Readings, an evening of spoken word and celebration in honor of the release of the magazine’s second issue. 5 p.m.— Art Presence Art Center will be hosting A Conversation with Author Debbie Chinn. Join for an evening of conversation based on art, words, and ideas. Chinn, major arts activist and non-profit consultant, will be reading from her book Dancing in Their Light: A Daughter’s Unfinished Memoir. 12:30—1:30 p.m.— Diaspora Dialogue presents Fantasy for Young Adults and Kid Lit, a workshop hosted by award-winning writer David Robinson. Robin will break down elements of fantasy, share writing tips, and give insight into young adult literature. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.

Sunday, September 25

11—12 p.m.— Join Introduction to Writing Rom Coms, a workshop led by critically acclaimed author Farah Heron. Heron is an established romantic comedy writer whose work has been reviewed in publications and magazines including Entertainment Weekly, Oprah Magazine, Style Magazine, and Buzzfeed. 4—5:30 p.m. Theater of War Productions presents The Waste Land Project, a live, hybrid exchange from poets across the world. Hear writers read from T.S Eliot’s monumental work and discuss the timeless themes of the century-old poem. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.

11—12:20 p.m.— Join the Elling Eide Center for the premiere of their event Late Imperial Chinese Women Writers & Image of the Female Immortal. This lecture will focus on the explosion of women writers that took place from the 17^th to 20^th centuries and the specific thematic focus of the immortalization of female literary identity. Tuesday, September 27

7 p.m.— Words Without Borders in conjunction with the Academy of American Poets presents: World in Verse: A Virtual Poetry Reading. This poetry reading will feature multilingual poetry spanning languages including Malay, French, Arabic, Spanish, and English. Celebrate the end of National Translation Month with writings from Najwan Darwish, Zamira Negrouche, Zahid M. Naser, and Jeannette Clariond. Wednesday, September 28

7 p.m.— White Whale Bookstore presents a poetry reading by poets Shelley Wong, Raena Shirali. and Allison Pitinii Davis! They will be reading from As She Appears, summonings, and Line Study of a Hotel Clerk, respectively. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.

Saturday, October 1

6:30 p.m. Victoria Festival of Authors presents the event: The Magical Writer: QTIPOC Authors Dissect Magic Realism. Join authors Larissa Lai, Rasiqra Revulva, and Joshua Whitehead for a discussion about the origin of the term and the relationship between heteronormative society and QTIPOC authors. 9 p.m.— The City of West Hollywood’s Art Division will be hosting another installment of WeHo Reads: Poets Laureate Across America. West Hollywood City Poet Laureate Brian Sonia-Wallace will be headlining this event. 11—12 p.m.— Haunted Houses and Other Spooky Places: Atmospheric Settings in Horror is a multi-author discussion about the importance and craft of setting in horror writing. Moderator Dianna Gunn and panelists Mato J. Steger, Pamela K. Kinney, Brenda Radchik, and Priya Sridhar unite to give insight into what makes a horror story effective and impactful. 4—5 p.m.— Weeknight Writers Group presents another evening of spooky writing! Attend Dire Warnings: Building Social Critique and Concern into Your Horror to discover how to add layers of critical analysis and criticism into your horror stories.
