Mark Twain Gets a Forever Stamp

Mark Twain stamp The U.S. Postal Service will issue a commemorative Forever postage stamp in honor of iconic American writer, Mark Twain. The stamp will be available on June 25, and a ceremony to celebrate its release will be held on the same day at the Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum in Hannibal, MO.

“Our literary tribute this year rightfully honors Mark Twain, author of one of the greatest novels in American literature and the man whom William Faulkner called ‘the first truly American writer,’” said James Bilbray, Postal Service Board of Governors member.

The stamp will be the 27th addition to the Literary Arts stamp series. Other stamps in the series feature T.S. Eliot, Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, Tennessee Williams, James Baldwin, and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings.

Upon release, the stamp will be available for purchase at http://usps.com/shop.
