Thursday, February 9
2:30–4:00 p.m.— Join Poetry Film Live as they host Poetry Film in Conversation: Animation, Motion Graphics and Text on Screen. Lucy English will chair the conversation with Diek Grobler and Jane Glennie. There will also be a prerecorded feature presentation by Suzie Hanna. Tickets are around $7 USD, and this event will premiere online.
Saturday, February 11
11:00 a.m.–12:00 noon— Feel the need to write but don’t want to do it alone? Join Mytecia's Virtual Writer's Café for another community writing session! All skill levels are welcome. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.
Monday, February 13
1:00–2:30 p.m.— Women & Children first presents Virtual: WANTING: WOMEN WRITING ABOUT DESIRE w/ Margot Kahn & Kelly McMasters. Margot and Kelly will be in conversation with contributors Laura Joyce-Hubbard, Gina Frangello, and Sonora Jha. Deconstruct desire with a powerhouse group of women writers and authors. Wednesday, February 15
1:30–2:30 p.m.— Come out to Shared Reading Sessions with Bell House for an evening of literature and community. Hosts Ben and Giulia will lead the reading and subsequent conversation each session. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.
2:00–2:30 p.m.— Release your woes with the SocietyX Community and prepare to heal with SocietyX - Therapeutic Poetry Workshop. Stop into study poems and write your own with a little creative nudging from selected prompts. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.
Thursday, February 16
12:00 noon–1:30 p.m. — The Word presents Writing Paths Workshop: Chapter Books vs. Middle Grade vs. Young Adult. Learn what distinguishes categories of YA literature from one another and prepare for The Word’s writer mentorship program. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.
7:00–8:00 p.m.— Join White Whale Bookstore for a Poetry Book Party! Come celebrate Kelly Weber’s most recent collection WE ARE CHANGED TO DEER AT THE BROKEN PLACE in conversation with Allison Adair and Kasey Jueds. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.
7:00–8:30 p.m.— The Barnard Center for Research on Women presents Trans Literature Now. Kay Gabriel, Denne Michele Norris, Casey Plett, Neon Yang, and C. Riley Snorton, will be in discussion with moderator Jo Livingstone as they discuss living, writing, and publishing trans literature today. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.
7:00–8:30 p.m.— The Pen/Faulkner Foundation presents: Literary Conversations: Memoir. Join Nicole Chung, Isaac Fitzgerald, and Margo Jefferson in conversation with 2023 debut memoirist and critic Bethanne Patrick. Tickets are priced at a sliding scale, and this event will take place online.
8:00–9:00 p.m.— The Poetry Foundation presents: Celebrating the Visiting Teaching Artists of Forms & Features. Join for a virtual reading featuring the 2022 Forms & Features Visiting Teaching Artists: Cecilia Caballero, Christiana Castillo, Antoinette Cooper, Sara Elkamel, Ernest Ogunyemi, and Francesca Normile. Forms & Features is the Poetry Foundation’s free online creative workshop for adults. Admission is free, and this event will take place online.
Friday, February 17
3:00– 4:00 p.m.— Join the Mechanics’ Institute for The Writers’ Lunch: Writing for Contests. Speakers include Ray Miles, Douglas McAbee, and B. Lynn Goodwin. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.
7:45–10:00 p.m.— Speak your truth! The Garage Poets Open Mic is open. Each open mic performer is allowed four minutes (or two poems) to read. Amanda Shea, this month’s featured poet, will read after the general open mic is done. Registration is free, and this event will take place online.
Saturday, February 18
10:00 a.m.–12:00 noon— Tired of following the script in your academic life? Join Creative Expression for Academics: A Poetry Workshop to reconnect with your creativity and inner voice. This is part two of a two-part series, the first of which will take place February 25. Tickets for both online events are available at a sliding scale cost.
2:30–3:45 p.m.— Attend a discussion about the self and existing biases in Reviewing Outside Your Identity - Online Panel Discussion. Moderator John Stoltenberg unites with panelists Sarah Rose Leonard and Brittani Samuel, André Hereford, and Chris Klimek to discuss challenges and obligations when reviewing work created by artists whose identities and viewpoints vastly vary from your own. Wednesday, February 22
7:30–8:30 p.m.— We Need Diverse Books presents Entrepreneurship in Publishing: How to Start Your Own Venture, a professional development panel. Learn how to launch your own publishing organization, grow your business, and measure success with panelists Dhonielle Clayton, Saraciea Fennell, and Monica Odom.
