Jon Tribble, 1962–2019

Jon TribbleJon Tribble, the author of three poetry collections and the longtime editor of the Crab Orchard Series in Poetry, has passed away. His spouse, the poet Allison Joseph, announced the news on October 2, 2019.

Tribble’s poetry collections include God of the Kitchen (Glass Lyre Press, 2018), And There Is Many a Good Thing (Salmon Poetry, 2017), and Natural State (Glass Lyre Press, 2016), and his awards included the Nazim Hikmet Poetry Prize, the Campbell Corner Poetry Prize, and a fellowship from the Illinois Arts Council. In addition to editing the Crab Orchard Series in Poetry for Southern Illinois University Press, he was managing editor of Crab Orchard Review and, prior to this, editor of Indiana Review.

Whether through writing, editing, or teaching, Tribble’s passion and dedication to contemporary poetry was boundless. Everyone at AWP extends their condolences to Ms. Joseph, and to those whose lives were touched by the generosity and kindness of his work.
