Longlist of Translation Awards
The American Literary Translators Association recently announced its longlist for the 2017 National Translation Award in poetry and prose. The association will name the winners at its annual conference in Minneapolis, October 5–8. The winning translators will receive a $2,500 prize. -
Indie Press to Open Bookstore
Columbus, Ohio small press Two Dollar Radio is opening its own bookstore this September in its hometown. The store, located in a house on the city’s south side, will feature the press’s titles and a selection of books from other independent presses. The store will also feature a café and a bar, and the press’s operations will be run out of the house as well. -
Zyzzyva, the New Last Word in the OED
Zyzzyva, the long-running literary magazine, now shares its name as the last word in the Oxford English Dictionary. For many years “zythum” was the last word, but the recent additions to the dictionary put “zyzzyva” in that spot. We’d tell you what it means, but why not look it up?
