National Book Critics Circle Announces Emerging Critic Fellowship
January 13, 2017
The National Book Critics Circle (NBCC) has launched a new fellowship as part of an initiative to support emerging critics, Publishers Weekly reports.
The NBCC Emerging Critic Fellowship will be awarded to five individuals. It comes with a one-year NBCC membership, mentorship from the organization’s Emerging Critic Initiative Committee’s members and board members, admission to all NBCC events, and an invitation to its annual reception in New York City.
Applications for the five 2017 fellowships will be accepted until January 27. Applicants must submit a resume, three writing samples, a 300- to 500-word statement of purpose, and two references.
“We are seeking a broad range of applicants,” the NBCC’s recent statement reads, “[and] will be selecting those who have demonstrated a genuine interest and commitment to engaging in critical conversation about books.”
The winners of the fellowship will be announced by March 1, 2017.
