Writers File Petition Denouncing Presidential Nominee Donald Trump

Over four hundred writers have signed a petition denouncing Donald Trump. The list includes such luminaries as Rita Dove, Gregory Pardlo, Amy Tan, Phillip Lopate, Tracy K. Smith, Joy Katz, Aliki Barnstone, Sharon Dolin, Martín Espada, and many others.
Posted on Lit Hub, an excerpt from the petition reads, “Because, as writers, we are particularly aware of the many ways that language can be abused in the name of power ... we, the undersigned, as a matter of conscience, oppose, unequivocally, the candidacy of Donald J. Trump for the Presidency of the United States.”
As of the writing of this news item, the letter has received over a hundred comments at Lit Hub and over a hundred shares and likes on Facebook and fifty-some retweets.
