The National Book Critic Circle Awards were announced last night. Winners included Paul Betty’s The Sellout for Fiction; Same Quinones’ Dreamland: The True Story of America’s Opiate Epidemic for General Nonfiction; Margo Jefferson’s Negroland for Autobiography; Charlotte Gordon’s Romantic Outlaws: The Extraordinary Lives of Mary Wollstonecraft and Her Daughter Mary Shelley for Biography; Maggie Nelson’s The Argonauts for Criticism; and Ross Gay’s Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude for Poetry.
