EWU Press To Close

December 1, 2009

The Eastern Washington University Press will close next year due to University budget cuts, the Spokesman-Review reports. The press, started in the 1970s to present scholarly research, also publishes poetry and books of regional interest, among other titles. “This was obviously a very difficult decision,” said Dave Meany, media relations director for EWU. “The press will continue to do business until June 30, 2010.” While the press is ceasing operations, its annual literary festival, Get Lit, will continue under the auspices of the College of Arts and Letters and, according to Meany, all existing author contracts will be honored.
