The New England Writers Organization

March 1, 2007

The New England Writers Organization celebrated its 20th year of writing contests and conferences last year, honoring the tradition instilled by its founder, Frank Anthony, who passed away last March. New England Writers publishes an annual anthology that features the winning pieces, and the anthology can be found in both the American Humanities Index and the Index of American Periodical Verse, in addition to many public and university libraries. Frank Anthony presented his brainchild in 1985, stating, “In a world becoming smaller and less distinct, it is the aim of New England Writers to discover those characteristics that are large in concept, individual in integrity, and timeless in their approach to the art of writing.” Despite the loss, the organization will continue to flourish through the support of his wife, Susan, and the group’s honorary and advisory editors, among others.
