Booker Prize Finalists Announced

The longlist for the U.K.’s 2011 Man Booker Prize for Fiction, featuring thirteen writers, was recently released. The list includes Julian Barnes (The Sense of an Ending),Carol Birch  (Jamrach’s Menagerie), Esi Edugyan (Half Blood Blues), andAllison Pick (Far to Go).

D.J. Taylor, Jane Rogers, A.D. Miller, Patrick McGuinness, Stephen Kelman, Alan Hollinghurst, Yvvette Edwards, and Patrick deWitt round out the rest of the finalists.

This year’s panel of judges includes Stella Rimington, Matthew d’Ancona, Susan Hill, Chris Mullin, and Gaby Wood.

The shortlist will be announced on September 6 and the overall winner on October 18, 2011.
