Bernhard DeBoer Declares Bankruptcy
October 1, 2007
DeBoer Distributors, which had been in business for the last sixty years, has now closed shop. The owner, Faye Kosmidis, cited “the changing economic climate in our industry” as reasons for this closure. The company had been struggling for many years, according to several magazine editors, as corporate distributors and superstores like Barnes & Noble crowded them out of competition. DeBoer was just one of two distributors working on the East Coast.
The distributor disseminated American Poetry Review, the Writer’s Chronicle, and many other magazines to bookstores throughout the country.
