11-Year-Old Wants to Build on Success of #1000blackgirlbooks
When Marley Dias, 11, of New Jersey noticed last fall that fewer than ten percent of children’s books released in 2015 had a black person as the main character, she set a goal of collecting 1,000 books about black girls by the beginning of February to donate to children in Jamaica, a campaign she dubbed #1000blackgirlbooks.
