Catherine Abbey Hodges is the author of the full-length poetry collections In a Rind of Light (Stephen F. Austin State University Press, 2020); Instead of Sadness, selected by Dan Gerber for the 2015 Barry Spacks Poetry Prize from Gunpowder Press; and Raft of Days (Gunpowder Press, 2017). Her poems appear widely in literary journals including The Southern Review, Tar River Poetry, Miramar, The American Journal of Poetry, Connotation Press, Cider Press Review, Atticus Review, SWWIM, and Chicago Quarterly Review. They’ve been anthologized, featured on The Writer’s Almanac and Verse Daily, and nominated for Pushcarts and Best-of-the-Net. Catherine has twice been named Faculty of the Year at Porterville College, where her students keep her awake and amazed. She co-coordinates California Poets in the Schools for Tulare County, serves as a Teacher-Consultant for the San Joaquin Valley Writing Project, and collaborates with her husband, musician and labyrinth-maker Rob Hodges.
