Renee Simms, originally from Michigan, is a fiction and nonfiction writer who teaches in the African American studies department at University of Puget Sound. She has an MFA from Arizona State University and a JD from Wayne State University. Renee has received fellowships from Kimbilio, Vermont Studio Center, and Ragdale, and her fiction and essays have appeared in Callaloo, North American Review, Joyland, Salon, and elsewhere. She is currently working on a novel about assembly workers.
