Irene Hoge Smith is a writer and psychotherapist who has written about trauma, bereavement, torture, and crises of meaning. Having covered the easy stuff, she is working on a memoir about her late mother FrancEyE, who ran away in the 1960s to become a poet (and the mistress of Charles Bukowski). Smith is a graduate of the New Directions postgraduate writing program of the Washington Psychoanalytic Institute and her essays have appeared in Amsterdam Quarterly, Brevity blog, and (forthcoming) Prick of the Spindle.
Irene worked with the writer Claude Clayton Smith.
